The Manchester City goalkeeper insists his team-mate is the most dangerous opponent he has faced, ahead of arguably the two greatest players of their generation
Joe Hart insists that Manchester City team-mate Sergio Aguero trumps Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldoas the toughest goalscorer he has ever faced.
Hart was widely praised even as City exited the Champions League against a Messi-inspired Barcelona earlier this month after pulling off a series of magnificent saves to keep the Argentine superstar and his team-mates at bay.
But the 27-year-old, who has also faced reigning Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo in Europe's elite club competition, is adamant that he regards Aguero as a more difficult opponent than the superstar duo.
When asked to name the toughest goalscorer he has faced, Hart replied: “Just from working with him on a daily basis and from what I’ve seen this season, probably Aguero. He just knows how to score.
“In training he particularly excites you most days. A long clearance could turn into a goal because he’s got that ability to take it round five people and score. Sergio is a very natural player.
“I’m backing Sergio because he’s my player. But Messi is a phenomenal player. He’s definitely one of the best players I’ve ever played against.”
