Inzaghi: I know I have to prove myself

Inzaghi: I know I have to prove myself

The AC Milan coach says he is happy with the progress his team are making after the 3-1 win over Cagliari and insists he feels supported at San Siro

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has admitted he needs to prove himself as a coach if he is to remain at the club beyond this summer.
The Italian has been under immense pressure for much of this season, with his side currently sitting seven points behind the final Europa League spot.
Inzaghi, though, was delighted with Saturday's 3-1 win over Cagliari, which moved Milan up to seventh in the table - at least until many of the teams around them have played on Sunday.
"I have to prove myself. I knew that there would be difficulties and it was unrealistic to think that I would not suffer," he told reporters after the game.
"I see more experienced coaches with top teams that are suffering too. I feel the trust of everyone, although we are not in the position in the table that we would like to be.
"I feel the team is close to me. I speak to Galliani three times a day. I have a contract and I want to continue to do well as long as I get the chance.
"I want to return Milan to the top positions, as we saw up until December. Now we create seven or eight goalscoring chances each game - this is the Milan that pleases me.
"We have 10 finals to play, we have to play well and then the club will decide on my future. If I get to stay, then I'll be at Milan my whole life."
Jeremy Menez scored twice and Philippe Mexes also found the target to render Diego Farias' goal irrelevant and the coach feels it was a strong performance from the Rossoneri.
"I'm happy for the team because we had collected less points than we deserved in recent games," said Inzaghi.
"Cagliari's attack causes problems for any team, but we created a lot. This is the way to go. Since the game against Fiorentina on Monday, it is as if we started a new season."
