The Costa Rican could be in line for a rare start against former club Levante on Sunday, but does he deserve a permanent place in the team after Iker's error-strewn showings?
Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas is under pressure after another poor performance and many fans and commentators in Spain are now calling for summer signing Keylor Navas to be given an opportunity to show he can usurp the World Cup winner.
Casillas was arguably culpable in three of the four goals he conceded in the Champions League last-16 second-leg match against Schalke on Tuesday as Madrid lost 4-3 but scraped through to the quarter-finals thanks to their 2-0 win in Gelsenkirchen.
Following that debacle and another dreadful display in the 4-0 defeat at Atletico recently, many Madrid fans, pundits and journalists have called for the Spain skipper to be benched.
The 33-year-old was booed by his own supporters, but said: "The fans that come to the Bernabeu are free to show their anger with a particular player. If anyone thinks Iker wasn't up to it and their way of showing that is with boos, then I would rather they booed me than the other players."
Meanwhile, Navas waits for an opportunity after featuring only seven times for Madrid since his summer switch from Levante.
"My situation is complicated, but I am going to fight to be here for many years," the Costa Rican said on Friday.
Navas could start against his former club on Sunday, but many believe it is time to give him a chance to show he can be Madrid's No. 1 in place of Casillas. So should Iker be dropped and Navas installed as Real's first-choice goalkeeper? Vote in our poll below and leave your opinions in the comments section...
