Toure: Everyone who plays with Iniesta loves him

The Manchester City star has expressed his admiration for his former midfield partner at Barcelona ahead of facing him in the Champions League on Wednesday
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has expressed his admiration for his former Barcelona team-mateAndres Iniesta ahead of their clash in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Toure spent three years at Camp Nou and played alongside the Spanish playmaker, who has earned three winner's medals in Europe's top competition with the club he joined at the age of 12.

The duo will go head to head in midfield as City look to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit away from home in the last-16 match and Toure says that anyone who has played with Iniesta will appreciate his talent.

"When you play with him, you always enjoy it," the Ivory Coast star told Champions League sponsors Nissan. "You enjoy playing with him; you enjoy looking at him playing football.

"He is such a simple guy, humble, very passionate as well. When sometimes he doesn't express so much it is because he is very calm and everybody who plays with him will always love him because he has such a talent but is very quiet and not bothered with things around him.

"He is such a skilful player, small, sharp, clever and quick in movement.

"He is not as fast as [Lionel] Messi in the 100 metres or like Cristiano Ronaldo but, in his movement, he is very, very quick and sharp. All of his football is about the mind, he is very clever, very clever."

Despite City's defeat at the Etihad Stadium, for which Toure was suspended, the 31-year-old remains confident but is aware of the difficulty of coming from behind against Barcelona.

"We have the kind of player who is going to respond well," he said. "We have got a few fantastic players at City and I think it is a 50/50 game because they won [the first leg] 2-1 but, if we want to go through, we need to get a good result and I think it will be a good game.

"I hope City will win it but I think it is always difficult to play against Barcelona when you have to run after the score. But in football anything can happen. We have our chance and they have their chance as well and we will see."

Toure does not expect, however, to be giving his team-mates advice on dealing with the threat that his former club pose, given that City faced them at the same stage of the Champions League last season.

"I don't think I have to say something [my team-mates] because last year they had experience of playing there as well," he added.

"We didn't win then but I think this year is different; it is a different team, a different squad and a different mentality. And if we want to go through, we will have to win it."
