Valencia to miss Arsenal clash after cutting his toe on a cup

The 25-year-old required stitches after the "freak accident" which leaves Sam Allardyce short of options in attack ahead of his side's trip to the Emirates Stadium
West Ham striker Enner Valencia is set to miss Saturday’s clash with Arsenal after cutting his toe on a broken cup.

The 25-year-old has scored five goals in 30 appearances this season but is likely to leave Sam Allardyce short of options in attack with Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole also sidelined.

"Enner has had an accident at home and has cut his big toe quite severely on a broken cup. It has been stitched,” said the West Ham manager.

"We're not exactly certain but we think it will be too soon for him be considered for the game at Arsenal on Saturday.

"It was a freak accident at a time when we could have done without it due to our lack of available strikers."

West Ham will bid to arrest an alarming slump in form which has seen them fail to win in their last seven games when they face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
