The Selecao star was knocked unconscious after collision with own goalkeeper during Porto's emphatic European triumph over Basel
Brazil defender Danilo has been given the all-clear after suffering a worrying injury as Porto progressed in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese outfit ensured they cruised into the last eight of Europe’s premier club competition as they beat Basel 4-0 at Estadio do Dragao to complete a resounding 5-1 aggregate win.
However, having taken the lead through Yacine Brahimi early on, they experienced a real scare midway through the first half as Danilo was knocked unconscious following a sickening collision with his own goalkeeper Fabiano.
The 23-year-old right-back – who has been widely tipped to join Real Madrid in the summer – was subsequently stretchered from the field in a neck brace.
Thankfully, having been taken to hospital for tests, Porto were later able to confirm that the Brazil international had suffered no serious injury.
In their captain’s absence, Porto went on to win the game in convincing style with Mexico’s Hector Herrera curling home a superb second early in the second half to effectively killing the tie.
Fellow Brazil international Casemiro offered Brazil coach Dunga a reminder of his ability with an excellent all-round display, capped off by a spectacular set-piece goal.
The on-loan Real Madrid midfielder – who was left out of the Brazil squad to face France and Chile this month – hammered in a long-range free-kick to put his three ahead on the night, before Vincent Aboubakar completed the scoring.
Casemiro, 23, told Uefa’s official website afterwards: “It wasn’t perfect because of the goal but because of the performance, everyone should be congratulated.
“Everyone played a great match and the team is improving with each match and doing what the coach is asking.
“The final is still a long way off, we have to take each match as it comes. We are among the eight best teams in Europe and should be congratulated.
“I’ve been training and working hard to have that chance to make it happen (to score a goal like that), so thanks to God that it happened.”
