The national team manager has advised the Arsenal-owned attacker to find a club where he can find happiness again after a difficult spell in Serie A
Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff has suggested Lukas Podolski made the wrong decision to leave Arsenal for Inter in the January transfer window.
Podolski, 29, joined the Serie A side on a six-month loan deal earlier this year, but he has so far struggled to live up to expectations at San Siro.
The Poland-born attacker seems unlikely to stay at Inter beyond his loan spell and Bierhoff has urged the Germany winger to pick a team that suits him come the end of the season.
"Lukas is a player who needs space, who lives from his movement. As an offensive force, it is really important for him to have some confidence," Bierhoff told reporters.
"So moving to Inter in Serie A has been a huge and a difficult step at the same time. He came to a team that struggles as well and that has not found itself.
"I am really convinced that Lukas can find back his strength if he regains his confidence, if he feels the confidence of the coach and the team and if he finds the joy. Whether Inter will be the place for that is hard to say.
"When Lukas chooses his next club, it is very important that he has a great feeling. The role of the club in its league or its reputation is not that important, but that he finds back the joy.
"Podolski really has contributed a lot in the national team over the last couple of years, so if he is living with a tough team, we are there for him. He certainly has the potential and the quality."
Podolski has made 10 Serie A appearances for Inter so far, but has yet to find the net.
