La Liga Team of the Week: Suarez and Pique lead Barca to Clasico victory

The Uruguayan striker hit the winner in the Catalans' 2-1 win over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday as Luis Enrique's side stretched their lead to four points



Barcelona extended their advantage at the top of La Liga to four points with victory over Real Madrid in the Clasico on Sunday.

Luis Enrique's side beat Carlo Ancelotti's men 2-1 to move into a commanding position with 10 rounds of the Primera Division remaining.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Atletico, Rayo Vallecano, Celta Vigo, Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Valencia and Sevilla in the 28th round of matches. Goal picks out the standout performers from the latest Liga action...


In goal, Claudio Bravo was in fine form with several superb saves to deny Cristiano Ronaldo et al in the Clasico.

At the back, Gerard Pique was excellent for Barcelona in the Camp Nou clash, later earning praise from former colleague Carles Puyol. And although he ended up on the losing side, Marcelo also impressed in Sunday's showdown. Elsewhere, Coke was superb for Sevilla in their 2-0 victory at Villarreal and Nicolas Otamendi was solid and also on target for Valencia as they won 4-0 at Elche.

Andre Gomes set Valencia on their way to victory with the opening goal in that match, while Mikel Ricoscored a wonderful lobbed winner for Athletic against Almeria and Vitolo celebrated his Spain call-up with another impressive performance and another goal for Sevilla.

In attack, Luis Suarez netted the winner for Barca with a superb strike in the Clasico. Karim Benzema, who set up Cristiano Ronaldo for Madrid's goal, also shone at Camp Nou, while Fernando Torres scored his first Liga goal in more than seven years with a superb header as Atletico beat Getafe 2-0 at the Vicente Calderon.
